Webinar on ‘Sustainability in the water-energy-food-environment nexus’

A webinar on ‘Sustainability in the water-energy-food-environment nexus: The role of chemical engineers’ by the third M A Naser Chair Prof. Rafiqul Gani was held through Zoom hosted by the department of chemical engineering, BUET on 25 July 2020 at 3.30 pm Bangladesh time. Sixty eight participants from home and abroad joined the webinar. Among them were distinguished alumni, faculty members and researchers from Bangladesh, Australia, Canada, Denmark, India, UK and USA.

‘M A Naser Chair’ was initiated and established by the BUET Chemical Engineering Alumni Association (ChEAA) at the Department of Chemical Engineering, BUET in recognition of the contribution made by Professor M A Naser, pioneer in chemical engineering education in Bangladesh.

The webinar was followed by a lively question and answer session. Prof. Ijaz Hossain, Dean of faculty of engineering, BUET offered the closing remarks. The webinar was conducted by the Head of the department Prof. Syeda Sultana Razia and coordinated by Prof M A A Shoukat Choudhury and Dr. Nahid Sanzida.

Online lecture by 3rd M A Naser Chair Prof. Rafiqul Gani

The Department of Chemical Engineering, BUET is organizing a webinar titled Sustainability in the Water-Energy-Food-Environment Nexus: the Role of Chemical Engineers” on Saturday, 25 July at 3:30 pm. The lecture will be delivered by Professor Dr. Rafiqul Gani, 3rd M A Naser Chair established by the BUET Chemical Engineering Alumni Association (ChEAA) at the Department of Chemical Engineering, BUET. He is currently working as the CEO of PSE for SPEED Company Limited, Denmark-Thailand.

ISCSSM 2020 held on 11-12 February 2020

The department, together with the Bangladesh National Authority on Chemical Weapons Convention (BNACWC) organized the International Symposium on Chemical Safety and Security Management, the first event of its kind, on the 11-12th February, 2020. More than 150 participants from various sectors, including academia, industry and regulatory authorities came together to discuss in depth the successes and the challenges in ensuring chemical safety and security in the context of Bangladesh.
